Gianmarco Ercoli entered the NASCAR Euro Series in 2014 straight from karting and won the OPEN title in just his second season in 2015, securing his promotion to the V8GP division.
After steadily building his experience in 2016 and 2017, Ercoli made history in 2018 when he became the first OPEN champion to win a race in V8GP. The victory was to be the catalyst for Ercoli's rise to become a championship contender in V8GP.
Ercoli finished sixth in 2019, fifth in 2020, second in 2021 and third in 2022 before he captured the big one in 2023. The Roman native was not only the first former OPEN champion to become the V8GP champion, he also became the first Italian to win the biggest prize in the official European NASCAR championship.
In 2024, Ercoli secured a race victory during the season and concluded the year third in the championship standings. Despite a strong start, he faced challenges in the latter part of the season, impacting his bid for consecutive titles.
In 2025, Ercoli transitions to Alumitec Racing, winning three consecutive races with the #11 Ford Mustang to secure a runner-up finish in the standings. The Italian returns to Alumitec in 2026, where he aims to leverage his experience and leadership to guide the team in its first season as an independent outfit and contend for another V8GP championship.
