After making his debut in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series in 2019 with a part-time schedule, Sven van Laere took on a full-time campaign for the first time in 2023, competing in EuroNASCAR 2, in the Legend Trophy and in the Rookie Trophy. Health issues forced van Laere to end his 2024 campaign early, but van Laere made a full recovery and competed the 2025 season full-time. The Belgian switched his focus to guide his son Maxim on his OPEN debut in 2026, but the desire to turn the wheel of a pure racing car never stops. Therefore, van Laere rekindled his relationship with CAAL Racing for the Playoffs, where he's set for his V8GP debut in the #73 Ford.
