The engines are firing up once again as Academy / Alex Caffi Motorsport officially confirms its return to the NASCAR Euro Series grid for 2026, taking the penultimate spot in the 26-car full-season grid. At the heart of the announcement is Federico Francesco Monti, the Pietrasanta-based manager who is ready to trade the boardroom for a Pure Racing cockpit once more.
Monti will pilot the #5 Chevrolet in the OPEN division, where he is set to challenge for the Legend Trophy dedicated to drivers aged 45 and more. Balancing his professional life as a high-level manager with his passion for the high speeds, Monti’s return signals a season focused on elite professionalism and technical growth.
The 2026 campaign marks a historic juncture for the team. Co-owner and former Formula One pilot Alex Caffi is celebrating a decade of racing excellence, bolstered by a half-decade of collaboration with Academy Motorsport.
“2026 will be a very special year for us, as Alex Caffi Motorsport celebrates its tenth anniversary in motorsport with prestigious partnerships and rewarding successes,” Caffi stated. “Our partnership with Academy Motorsport, which has lasted for five years, has brought us valuable results and wonderful emotions. The championship has shown steady growth over the years, and we are proud to be part of it again this year. We are excited to start this new season very soon and look forward to a new season aimed at achieving the goals we have set ourselves.”
For Monti, the upcoming season isn’t just about participation – it’s about confirmation. After seasons of building a technical foundation, the veteran driver is looking to translate that experience into hardware.

With the technical backing of a former F1 star and the discipline of a veteran manager, Monti and the #5 team are poised to be a force in the OPEN category from the first green flag of the year.
