The perfect match: Alumitec and CAAL Racing back in the NASCAR Euro Series title battle

Bart Dehaese Alumitec Racing Pro R1 Win Brands Hatch 2025

Alumitec Racing made its NASCAR Euro Series debut in the 2025 season – With CAAL Racing as the team’s technical partner, the Canadian organization scored a dominant double victory on British soil

  • Alumitec Racing celebrated its maiden win with a sweep at Brands Hatch
  • CAAL Racing serves as an experienced technical partner
  • The Canadian team is back in title contention

Alumitec Racing made an emphatic entrance onto the NASCAR Euro Series stage in 2025, fielding the #11 Ford Mustang for 2023 champion Gianmarco Ercoli in the PRO division and rookie Valentino Gambarotto in the OPEN class. The organization led by Alain Lord Mounir didn’t take long to make headlines – clinching its maiden victory in Saturday’s PRO race at the iconic Brands Hatch Indy Circuit and backing it up with another on Sunday to complete the sweep. The result? Ercoli was crowned the 2025 King of Brands Hatch.

While the Alumitec name is new to the NASCAR Euro Series grid, the crew behind it are no strangers to Victory Lane. The team benefits from a strong technical alliance with CAAL Racing, one of the most successful and experienced outfits in series history.

CAAL Racing, led by Luca and Corrado Canneori, has an impressive legacy in the championship. They’ve captured three NASCAR Euro Series titles with Alon Day – the winningest driver in series history – and added another with Ercoli in 2023. Their deep notebook and winning pedigree were key factors in Alumitec’s explosive start.

“We’re really happy, and we love this track,” said Luca Canneori. “This was our 12th victory here at Brands Hatch. I think we’re so strong here because the Indy Circuit is similar to our testing tracks. For ten years now, we’ve been fast here, year after year. We’ve worked with many different drivers and fielded a lot of cars, so we know what it takes. We really enjoyed this weekend.”

Team boss Alain Lord Mounir echoed that enthusiasm as the celebration kicked off. “It’s going to be a big party!” he said. “These wins are for the whole team – for Luca and Corrado, for Carmelo [Scoglio, Alumitec’s chief engineer], and for all the crew. Everyone works so hard to get this car up front. We’re back in the title hunt – we’re contenders now.”

Looking ahead, Mounier was already focused on keeping the momentum alive. “We’re targeting another win at Autodrom Most. The competition in the NASCAR Euro Series has always been intense. A few years ago, I was running a different car, and now I have the opportunity again. This alliance with CAAL Racing is fantastic. We’re chasing that championship. I’ve won in Canada – now I want to win this one.”

Ercoli Delivers When It Counts

The man making the difference behind the wheel was Gianmarco Ercoli, the 2023 champion and Roman native who’s chasing a second Tijey Trophy – and some extra motivation comes from home, where his one-year-old daughter is already a fan.

After a rocky start to the season in Valencia and Vallelunga, Brands Hatch offered the perfect reset. Ercoli showed pace and poise all weekend long, delivering Alumitec’s first-ever victory on Saturday and sealing the sweep on Sunday.

“Here, it’s always stressful,” Ercoli admitted. “When I got to lap 32, I thought to myself, ‘this group is really strong today.’ And then, just one corner later — boom — there was an accident. I’m really happy with the car. This is the first win for Alumitec Racing, and congrats to the team for doing a great job. It was an incredible race. On this track, you can’t relax for even a moment. I think this result can shift the momentum in the championship. In Valencia and Vallelunga, we struggled with small mistakes and couldn’t show our true potential. Today, we turned things around — maybe even rewrote the script!”

And on Sunday, Ercoli completed the perfect weekend. “I told you I’d wait until Sunday for the crown — and today, I finally touched it,” he said from Victory Lane. “It was a long race, especially with that crash on lap one. My pace was incredible, and I had a great battle with Liam, who defended really well. I stayed patient, kept the pressure on him. He did a great job out front. I think in the final laps he had some kind of technical issue — I’m not sure. I’m just happy I waited for the right moment to make the move. Passing here is never easy.”

With two wins on the board and the #11 Ford firmly in the spotlight, Ercoli, Alumitec Racing and CAAL Racing are officially back in the title conversation – and they’re aiming to stay there all the way to the season finale.
