Vittorio Ghirelli leads very close PRO championship standings after Brands Hatch – The NASCAR Euro Series invited the Italian to race in NASCAR Canada’s prestigious GP3R

  • Two second place finishes with a rebuilt car promote Vittorio Ghirelli to the PRO lead
  • The Italian will represent NASCAR Europe at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres
  • Ercoli’s UK sweep brings him up to second in a super competitive PRO division

The 2025 NASCAR GP UK delivered once two exciting races in the PRO division, this time with an additional prize. With two second places on a miraculously rebuilt #24 Chevrolet Camaro, reigning champion Vittorio Ghirelli came out of American SpeedFest as the championship leader and will therefore represent the NASCAR Euro Series at the NASCAR Canada Series’ prestigious Grand Prix des Trois Rivieres on August 8-10, 2025 with support by Festidrag.tv and Rousseau Metal.

Ghirelli’s performance was made possible thanks to the hard work of the PK Carsport mechanics, who rebuilt the #24 Chevrolet Camaro after a practice crash involving the Italian’s teammate Thomas Dombrowski. The Belgian team’s repair job was excellent and Ghirelli drove the rebuilt car impeccably securing second place results in qualifying and both races and propelling himself onto the points lead.

In what is one of the tightest battles in the series’ history, four different drivers reached Victory Lane in six races. Overall, eight different teams are represented inside the top-10, testifying the high level of competition and the parity among the NASCAR Euro Series competitors. Experience and a deep knowledge of the EuroNASCAR car are key at this high level and Ghirelli entered the series back in 2019, Ercoli in 2014, Jouffreau in 2021, Krasonis in 2019 and talented newcomers the likes of Garrett Lowe are putting all their skills to good use to compete with the best NASCAR drivers in Europe. Arrive and win? That’s a tough task with the high level of competition and experience in the PRO category.

Chasing Ghirelli in the points standings is his arch-rival Gianmarco Ercoli, who reignited his title hopes with two wins in the UK. Ercoli now joins Alon Day and Ander Vilarino as the winningest drivers at the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit. The perfect weekend meant that the Alumitec Racing driver is now only six points behind Ghirelli and is confident he can score more victories behind the wheel of the #11 Ford Mustang.

Technical woes limited Paul Jouffreau’s results in the American SpeedFest. His podium in Round 6 was key as it kept the Frenchman in third position in the standings. Jouffreau is level on points with Thomas Krasonis, but the RDV Competition driver has two victories on his account. Therefore, Jouffreau maintains his lead in the Junior Trophy over Krasonis. Sebastiaan Bleekemolen continued his consistent start of the season with two top-10 finishes, holding tight to a place inside the top-5 in the standings for Team Bleekemolen.

Fuel pump issues left Liam Hezemans wondering what could’ve been, as he was on course to win Sunday’s race before the troubles struck. In the end, the Dutchman is now sixth in points with American Garrett Lowe tying him in the points tally in seventh. They are also third and fourth in the Junior Trophy ranks. Vladimiros Tziortzis, Fabrizio Armetta and Julien Rehberg – who is fifth in Junior Trophy – round out the top-10.

Autodrom Most will be the site of NASCAR Euro Series’ next battle on 30-31 August. This visit to the Czech Republic will be important because drivers will drop their worst result from the standings before the double points Playoff rounds at Germany and Belgium. All races from the 2025 NASCAR Euro Series season will be broadcast live on EuroNASCAR’s YouTube channel and TV channels around the world.
