Thomas Krasonis regained the advantage in the OPEN standings with his win in Italy – Consistent results kept the Greek’s rivals at a close distance
- Victory in Italy promoted Thomas Krasonis to the lead ahead of Patrick Schober
- Other top drivers are separated by a slim margin
- 40 points covers the top-15 drivers in the OPEN standings
12,000 Italian fans witnessed a dramatic set of NASCAR Euro Series OPEN races that kept them in their seats during the 2025 NASCAR GP Italy. The races promoted one important lesson: Every single point that they score will matter. Minimizing mistakes and maximizing results are key to success and that’s what PK Carsport talent Thomas Krasonis did at Autodromo di Vallelunga. The Greek stayed out of costly incidents and brought home a victory in Italy to exit the round as the championship leader ahead of the consistent Patrick Schober and Thomas Dombrowski.

Krasonis bounced back from his rollercoaster weekend in Spain with a more representative result at Vallelunga. His win on Saturday was followed with an important top-5 finish on Sunday, giving the Greek 131 points to his total tally. Only three points separated Krasonis from his two closest rivals: Schober and Dombrowski. Schober maintained his strong form with sixth and third place finishes, while Dombrowski celebrated his maiden podiums in OPEN.
Dombrowski duelled with Bruno Mulders in Round 3 on his way to his first ever podium in third position. On Sunday, Dombrowski came within inches to victory: Martin Doubek limped to the checkered flag just before the PK Carsport driver crossed the line. Doubek is currently fifth in the standings after yet another up-and-down weekend for the defending champion. Fuel problems caused by an opening lap incident forced the Czech’s retirement on Saturday, but in Round 4 Doubek managed his pace well and built enough gap to still come out on top.

Sitting in between the pair of Schober and Dombrowski and Martin Doubek is Team Bleekemolen’s Melvin de Groot. A consistent start to the 2025 season brings the Dutch within five points from Krasonis in the overall battle. Sandro Tavartkiladze continues to show his promise with two consistent results for the new Team Georgia by RDV. The Georgian driver is now only 12 points away from the leader, one point ahead of fellow rookie Bruno Mulders who impressed with his second career podium finish in Round 3.
Roberto Benedetti moved up to eighth ahead of Gil Linster, who battled illness throughout the NASCAR GP Italy. The Luxembourger tried his best to keep himself in the fight, but he lacked the physical fitness and had to retire from both races. Florian Richard completes the top-10 ahead of Claudio Remigio Cappelli. Dominique Schaak, Sven van Laere, Valentino Gambarotto and Andres Beers are still in play for the championship as they are all within 40 points of Krasonis.
