  • The German suffered from torn ligaments
  • It’s just a break not a career ending moment

Matthias Hauer was set to return to the NASCAR Euro Series with Speedhouse in 2025, after not racing in 2024. The German driver intended to participate in the OPEN championship as a part-time competitor. However, he has now had to postpone his comeback plans due to health issues. The Frankfurt-based lawyer suffered torn ligaments and underwent surgery during the winter break. He is now working hard to get back in shape, but it is unlikely that he will be able to compete in any races in the 2025 season.

He has been part of the NASCAR Euro Series grid since 2018, establishing himself as one of the finest gentleman drivers in the paddock. Having gained experience with various race cars and series, Hauer took his first steps in international racing relatively late in life, but immediately fell in love with NASCAR racing. One of the most important steps in his career was teaming up with Speedhouse in 2019, as he shares the values of “racing, style and good times” with the team’s boss, Lucas Lasserre. Together, the German and French team achieved solid results in the OPEN category and the Legend Trophy.

While Hauer will have to watch the races from home on EuroNASCAR’s official YouTube channel, the 2025 NASCAR Euro Series season will continue on 17–18 May at the Autodromo di Vallelunga in Italy. This second event of the year promises close racing, a special atmosphere at one of the most challenging tracks near Rome, and a unique American festival combined with the Italian dolce vita. The whole NASCAR Euro Series community wishes Matthias Hauer a speedy recovery, so that he can fire up a V8 engine again in the 2026 season.
