Solaris Motorsport has signed EuroNASCAR 2 title contender and race winner Nicholas Risitano for the 2020 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season. The Rome native will share the #12 Chevrolet Camaro with Francesco Sini, who will return for his third consecutive NWES season in 2020. After a promising test at Autodromo di Vallelunga in August, Solaris Motorsport and Risitano hope to jump right into the title fight of the EuroNASCAR 2 championship in 2020.

“I’m very happy to join the big family of Solaris Motorsport,” said the 32-year-old EN2 race winner. “After two years in the official European NASCAR Series, I feel ready to take another step forward in my career and try to fight for the title. I’m confident I’m in the right team now. What I saw during the test in Vallelunga made me very positive for the upcoming season. Vallelunga, my home track, will be the season opener and starting the season with a great result would be fantastic. It would be great if I could dedicate it to all our fans and Sanity System, the company supporting my career.”

Risitano’s new teammate Sini said: “We are very proud to have Nicholas with us in this season. He is young, a very talented driver and has shown great things in the last two seasons. Due to the partnership with CAAL Racing this year, we want to be run constantly at the front and get important results right from the beginning. I’m sure that Nicholas will play a key role in this.”

In his young NWES career, Risitano has a total of 25 race starts in the EuroNASCAR 2 in his pockets. He scored his first and only race win at Valencia in 2019, grabbed three podium finishes and 18 top-10 results. In the 2019 season, the Italian ended up fifth in the overall EuroNASCAR 2 classification.

The 2020 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season will kick off on September 11-12 at Autodromo di Vallelunga in Rome, Italy. It’s the first time that the official European NASCAR Series will host a race on the famous 4.085 kilometer long track.
